Why use a travel agent?

Great question! I personally never used a travel agent, because I was always finding these great deals on my own…until I realized that I could get free onboard credit with my cruises (this is the gateway drug!). Then I started using the same agent to help book other trips and realized how easy it was not having to do all the work. No research, no scouring the internet for the best price, no digging through my emails to find each and every confirmation because I booked everything separate. WELP, now here we are all these years later, and I will be doing EXACTLY that, but for you! I enjoy it, I really do!

How are you going to get me the best deal?

Well I can’t tell you ALL my secrets, but I will be very transparent when booking for you. Unlike other travel agents, I’m not going to try to upsell you on vacations to make a bigger commission. I am going to look for ways to SPEND LESS. Sometimes, that means booking in a way where I make no commission!

No commission? So how are you going to make money?

Do I want to make money? Sure. Of course! But my main focus is to truly help you travel more, while spending less. Sometimes, there simply isn’t a hack! Sometimes, there is no way to use points that makes financial sense. I will walk you through what the points equivalent is in cash form. If I help you book through points (no commission), and you like my services, hopefully you will use me again during a time where there is a commissionable rate!

So for real, I don’t have to pay you anything?

Nope! Completely free! The way I make my money is by booking commissionable rates from vendors my agency has a relationship with. I have travel agent access to portals of ALL major suppliers, whether that’s air, hotels, car rentals, etc. You name it, I got the access! And you better believe I will be checking them ALL to see who has the best deal!

What if the price goes down before I travel?

Great! Love to see it… As long as it’s not before the cancellation or modification window closing, I will be ON THE PHONE calling them to adjust your price. I will be checking throughout the booking process until you’re almost ready to go! If you see something that I’ve missed, just let me know and I will get that price adjusted!

But Kelsey, I found it cheaper on Expedia..(or any other 3rd party booking)

I have a travel agent portal with Expedia, so just tell me that and I can look and see. When you book with me, I try to stay as direct with the vendor as possible. If you see that a hotel is offering a deal or promotion, I will be able to add that discount.

When using a travel agent, if things need to be changed, the cancellation and modification policy seems to be more lenient and extended. When you book with 3rd party suppliers, on your own, good luck getting anyone on the phone to change your reservation! If you do book with a 3rd party site (like Expedia, booking.com, etc.) please be aware of their cancellation policy, and any hidden fees that could pop up at checkout, and hotel check in!
